SVSG Village Representatives
what makes us different
Village Reps act as the direct link between the Samoa Victims Support Group and their village. They help communicate SVSG programs, services, and responsibilities to families, village councils, church groups, and youth.
They are often the first people in the village to identify individuals or families experiencing violence, abuse, hardship, or any form of vulnerability. Village Reps ensure that these cases are safely referred to SVSG for immediate support.
Village Reps promote awareness about safety, protection, and human rights. They help share information about:
Preventing violence
Supporting victims
Protecting children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities
Encouraging peaceful and respectful family relationships
They support SVSG by: Monitoring cases referred from the village Following up on welfare needs Ensuring that victims remain safe Updating SVSG on any changes or emerging risks
Village Reps help organize community-based SVSG activities, such as awareness programs, training, fundraising, and partnerships with schools or churches. They help mobilize village support around SVSG initiatives.
They must uphold the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and respect when dealing with sensitive information. They act without bias and avoid involvement in village politics or disputes.
Village Reps assist in reintegrating survivors or offenders returning to the community by promoting acceptance, safety, and supportive environments.
They are responsible for documenting case referrals, incidents, community concerns, and program activities, and submitting these to SVSG according to policy requirements.
Village Reps encourage families and villages to adopt safe and protective measures—ensuring that vulnerable individuals know where to go for help and that the community understands its role in preventing violence.
They represent SVSG’s values of support, compassion, and unity. Village Reps carry the identity of the organization within their community and must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects trust and service
