Siliniu Mrs Lina Chang is a founding member of Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) and a defender of human rights in a conservative, traditionally-oriented Samoan community. SVSG operates the only shelter facilities available in Samoa for abused women and children. For over 20 years, Lina has dedicated her life to helping women, children and other vulnerable members of the community. She has held the position of President of SVSG since 2011. After growing up in Samoa, Lina moved to New Zealand to complete her education. When she returned to Samoa, she joined the police force where she experienced first hand the devasting effects of gender- based violence.

As a faithful servant of God, Lina has made herself a living sacrifice to save others. She has nurtured abandoned children found in bushes or dumped at rubbish bins; attempted suicide survivors of incest, then supported them through their birthing; and children with disabilities neglected by their parents.
